Rebekah says Klaus can have his revenge, but before that she will tell him why it was HIS cruelty that led to this.
Cami visits Davina, who tells her that she heard voice whispering to her when she was dead. The ancestors were angry with her, and they said they would do horrible things if she misused her magic again. Marcel goes to Kieran for help, but he lost his faith when Sean, his nephew and Cami’s twin, died.
Meanwhile, Rebekah explains that Klaus was cruel, controlling and manipulative, to which Klaus argues back that he was just trying to protect her. Rebekah wants to know what happened to the boy who loved art and music, and gave her gifts. Elijah says that no one has stood by Klaus for so long. In a flashback, Mikael was beating Klaus with a whip, not before physically beating him, when Rebekah comes in with a sword to fight her father to protect him. Rebekah points out it was her fault Mikael came back for Klaus was a more evil person that her father was. This was the wrong thing to say, for Klaus attacks her, but Elijah knocks the stake out of his hand, and grabs it, resulting in him having both Papa Tunde’s knife and the White Oak Stake.
Cami and Davina talk, Cami tells her about when her brother died and that she made a choice to not led sadness swallow her up. Davina doesn’t know who to trust for everyone just uses her, such as Marcel. Marcel overhears this, contacts Rebekah and tells her that there must be another way to free her.
Klaus wants to know why Elijah is defending Rebekah, he replies he likes to remember her before she was a vampire, she was innocent and full of life. Elijah tells Klaus about when Rebekah attempted to kill Mikael, but Elijah had stopped her, and he wishes he never did. Elijah throws the White Oak Stake off to the side, and says that he won’t kill him but he will stab him, but Klaus stabs Elijah with Papa Tunde’s knife. Now Rebekah has the White Oak Stake. There is a standoff between Klaus and Rebekah.
Marcel goes to Genevieve to try and get her to help, but she wants Davina in exchange as well as the vampires leaving the Cauldron if Marcel brings Davina, she will find a spell to break the one Celeste casted over the cemetery.
Klaus tries to get Rebekah to admit she wanted him dead, she does. Then Klaus does this: HE STABS HER WITH THE WHITE OAK STAKE! Oh my god!
Freedom at last. It’s night and Rebekah is still alive, for Klaus had missed her heart. He says that he never meant to kill her he just wanted her to feel what he felt when Mikael came after him, furthermore, Klaus says that he didn’t make himself this way it was Mikael that ruined him, to which Rebekah points out that Mikael ruined her as well, she points out that Mikael ruined everyone, they’re the strongest creatures in the world but they’re the most broken for they are the definition of cursed and they live without hope, but can never die.
Marcel takes Davina to the Cauldron. Klaus takes the knife out of Elijah and says that they are even. Marcel visits Genevieve to make the deal which she does agree to, but when asked if she can help Kieran she says that’s not possible.
Klaus asks Rebekah what does she want, she replied that she wants a family, a home and someone to love her, and she wants to live. Klaus says she should go and never come back. They’re too dangerous when they’re together. Rebekah agrees to leave.
The final goodbyes. Rebekah goes to the plantation to collect the rest of her things and meets Elijah there, he says he hopes she finds what she’s looking for. They believe that the true Klaus is still in the deep darkness of himself. Marcel wants to settle things with Klaus, he says he’s not sorry, Klaus walks away just as Elijah appears and throws Marcel against the wall, he exiles him out of the French Quarter and kicks out all of his vampire friends.
Rebekah and Marcel visit Esther’s grave, and Marcel says he can’t just run away, Rebekah knew this and decide to part ways. She says that she wishes Marcel finished the home he started to build for her. They embrace one last time. Rebekah visits Hayley at her cabin to say goodbye, she tells her there’s hope for Klaus and her baby, and asks Hayley to be careful. Rebekah leaves the same way she came in, with a smile on her face.
