Simon Cowell’s musical I Can’t Sing has been axed after two shows due to lack of interest and two weeks worth of disappointing sales. Ouch for Simon. The musical was based on the popular television show X-Factor, it was a humorous show written by Steve Brown and Harry hill.
However as it began to flop not even Simon Cowell the entrepreneur of a century could save it. This isn’t the only show that Sycho, Cowell’s production company has seen flop. A revise of The Spice Girls musical Viva forever barely made it to the palladium leaving Cowell with no choice but to call it quits early.
I Cant Sing has been said to have struggled straight away with terrible ticket sales and seats only being filled up by two thirds. The cast refused to perform and revenue was being lost so Sycho had no other choice but to end the show. Ticket holders have been asked to get a full refunds as an apology for the closing of this production.
CEO of Stage Entertainment UK, said: ‘We are sad to be bringing I Can’t Sing! to a close but are immensely proud to have co-produced the show. The West End can be an unpredictable place as the closure of a number of high profile productions recently has shown’ the positive spin hopefully shows that the Sycho production team are not going to call it quits on the west end forever.
However Cowell shouldn’t fret too much as the return of Britain’s Got Talent saw 12.3 million viewers- 50% of the sharing system. The biggest launching views in the history of British television. Well all that ends doesn’t always end bad for Simon.
