GOOD MORNING BRITAIN’S CHARLOTTE HAWKINS JOINS STRICTLY 96

Charlotte Hawkins is the eleventh celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Charlotte said in a statement:

“I am so thrilled to be one of the contestants on Strictly this year! I’ve always been a big fan of the show. It is a dream come true to be taking part and I’ll be following in the footsteps of my Good Morning Britain colleagues. I’m looking forward to stepping out from behind the news desk to cha-cha-cha my way across the dancefloor!”

Charlotte Hawkins is a newsreader, journalist and one of the anchors on ITV’s breakfast show Good Morning Britain. Before joining ITV, Charlotte worked at Sky News for seven years on Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes and also hosted her own daily show of breaking news and interviews. She anchored Sunrise Live at the Olympics and presented coverage of the Diamond Jubilee and Royal Wedding. She also hosted Sky News’s Bafta show and presented live from LA on the Oscars red carpet.

Charlotte began her broadcasting career with ITN in 1999 as a newsreader and reporter for LBC Radio. She then moved to ITV Meridian in the southeast where she hosted the current affairs series, The Big Story and later as co-anchor of their main news programme Meridian Tonight.

Charlotte Hawkins joins Brian Conley, Susan Calman, Aston Merrygold, Simon Rimmer, Joe McFadden, Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami and Mollie King who have also been confirmed for the new series. More celebrity contestants will be announced later today.

BRIT AWARDS 2018: RITA ORA TO PERFORM 41

The BRITs 2018 performance line-up adds another superstar in Rita Ora who will take to the stage at the awards ceremony for the first time this year. She will join Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Sam Smith, Stormzy, Rag’n’Bone Man and Jorja Smith at The O2 on 21 February for the biggest night in British music.

Previously nominated for four BRIT Awards, and with 7 million single sales and a No. 1 platinum debut album to her name, Rita’s recent return to music has seen her into the charts four times in less than a year, most recently with ‘For You’ – a duet with BRITs 2018 double-nominee Liam Payne.

Rita said: “I am so honoured to be performing at The BRITs this year, as a British artist it has always been a dream of mine and I am beyond excited”

BRIT AWARDS 2018: JORJA SMITH TO PERFORM WITH RAG N BONE MAN 45

Jorja Smith will become the first BRITs Critics’ Choice winner to perform on The BRITs main show in the same year as winning the award.

The 2017 winner of Critics’ Choice and British Breakthrough Act, Rag’n’Bone Man invited the R&B prodigy to perform alongside him following an incredible 12 months since winning the awards. It will be the first time that two Critics’ Choice winners have performed together on The BRITs stage.

Jorja was one of the live highlights of The BRITs Nominations Launch which broadcast live on ITV1 on 13 January, stunning the audience at home and in the studio with her single ‘Let Me Down’ featuring Stormzy. Jorja will embark on a sold out UK headline tour ahead of The Awards show. 

On the announcement, Jorja said: “I can’t believe I’ll be performing at The BRIT Awards. Rag’n’Bone Man has had an incredible year and is such a crazy talent. When he asked me at the end of last year to perform I was so happy as it’s a real honour to be sharing the stage with him.” 

Rag’n’Bone Man’s debut album ‘Human’ went straight to No.1 in February, achieving the fastest selling UK male debut of the decade and selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide.
