THE VAMPS TEAM UP WITH MAGGIE LINDEMAN FOR NEW SINGLE 47

Fresh from scoring their first UK #1 album, The Vamps are broadening their horizons stylistically with their brand-new single Personal. Teaming up with American rising star Maggie Lindemann, the British four-piece have made a cool, cutting edge track with additional production from superstar DJ producer Digital Farm Animals. Personal is released on 13th October and will be available on all digital platforms.

The Vamps have been teasing their exciting new collaboration for the past few days with some cryptic posts on their socials, leading to thousands of fans guessing who they had partnered with for the single. Later this week, The Vamps and Maggie will host a special Facebook Live International Listening Party which will see them premiere the song and answer questions from the fans.

Personal is the first single to be taken from the Day edition of Night & Day, their #1 album. Speaking of their collaboration, The Vamps commented: “We always enjoy working with new people. When we heard Maggie’s tune Pretty Girl we knew she was going to be awesome. She’s such a talented person whose voice added so much to the single. She’s not just a pretty girl ;)”. Maggie added “I love the song and the meaning behind it – I think everyone has gone through it. My manager and I were on our way to Norway and he played me a very rough demo of the song that only had Brad on it. I thought the concept was so cool! We recorded it a couple of weeks later. The Vamps were amazing to work with, super good energy all the time. They’re cool guys!”.

On top of the exciting single news, The Vamps also this week announced their 2018 Night & Day UK & Europe Arena Tour. The tour kicks off in Sheffield on 14th April and wraps in Copenhagen on 1st June. The full dates can be viewed here. Tickets for the UK leg of the tour go on sale on Saturday 11th November at 11am.

The Vamps are one of the most successful British bands, achieving a huge amount of success and acclaim all over the globe. They are currently in the midst of their world tour and play sold out shows in Japan this week. Night & Day stormed straight into the Top 10 on the iTunes chart in over 20 countries including Argentina, Philippines, India and Australia. They are a force to be reckoned with on social media, with over 6 million likes on their Facebook, almost 4 million followers on Twitter, 2 million followers on Instagram, and 144 million views on YouTube.

REVIEW: ASCENDING DAWN – ‘COALESCE’ 11

They might be a fairly new band, but coming into such a saturated and rock heavy music world certainly hasn’t dampened the spirits – or the voices – of London based prog/alt metal quartet Ascending Dawn and their debut album Coalesce makes quite the first impression.

Opening numbers “All In Now” and particularly stand-out track number 3 “Cannonball” make sure listeners pick up on the almost undeniable air of Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia surrounding AD’s front-woman Marlain Angelides from the off – both have strong voices, fraught with power and emotion, but make no mistake, they are also entirely different people who just happen to share a career path.

While Marlain rightly takes centre stage across the 9 tracks – 10 if you include the radio edit of “Cannonball” – featured on the collection – her band-mates Jen Fletcher, Mark Weatherley and Owen Rees also shine thanks to their tight musicianship and ability to create a great ambience with their instruments.

The album is also helped greatly by impressive production, with the mixing and mastering done Jochem Jacobs, formerly of Textures. His efforts on Coalesce allow for each track to connect with the next, even when lyrically or musically they really shouldn’t, and it’s this that ultimately prevents the album from being a stop-start ‘what the hell is going on’ type of record.

Despite the bands’ many talents, which they showcase as best they can on the album, come the half-way point, and most notably following “Opposites”, each track does tend to start sounding like the last as the group appear to have stuck to what they know and do best. It might work on a debut album but should they be fortunate enough to return to the studio and record a second, a bit of variety certainly wouldn’t go amiss. Nevertheless, for a first effort, it’s a strong and well-polished one, sure to impress those music fans who like their tracks to be large, considerably loud and rather in your face.

Coalesce is available now.
