Wednesday’s return of Arrow featured Sara’s connection to Sin, and Felicity coming to grips with another woman in Oliver’s life.
Arrow opens with a man walking into a building who is given instructions on the phone; another man soon joins him for they are tasked with stealing something in brief case.
The following scene shows Sara, Diggle and Oliver training with sticks while Felicity watches as Diggle hits Sara across the face, they all begin to compare scars, Felicity awkwardly adds that she has scars from having her wisdom teeth removed. Sara feels awkward attending a welcome party that Oliver is throwing her. Sara arrives with her parents where she sees Sin who gives her a hug much to the curiosity of Thea and Roy. Before the party starts, Detective Lance is called away, not long afterwards Sara and Oliver join him as the Arrow and Black Canary.
Felicity is seen practising when Sara gives her a few pointers. Oliver follows with a “What are you wearing?” comment that displeases Felicity. He is intent on finding information on the skeleton key and the person behind the attacks.
They go after a robbery in progress where they split up – Arrow heads for the bus saving both the bus and train from colliding, while Black Canary goes after the men. She lands a blow before she is under fire. Felicity is stumped by the man’s ability to control the networks and security systems.
A flashback scene shows a plane being show down, the pilot is wounded but is still able to talk. Oliver and Slade head off to get medical supplies while Sara talks to the pilot who hands over a picture of his daughter to her. In a later scene he dies.
Thea asks Oliver what’s going on between him and their mother, he lies insisting everything is fine, he even calls her Speedy to reassure her. Sara has blood from the mystery man and runs it herself, much to Felicity’s annoyance; she uses the information that Sara discovers to identify him as William Tockham. This is a trap for Tockham hacks the network Felicity uses and surges the equipment in the Arrow cave and everything kind of blows up.
Oliver and Sara return to assess the damage but Sara tries to stay and help rather than got to Laurels dinner, Felicity tells her family is important and she needs to go. Felicity and Diggle take where she reveals that she is a little jealous about Sara’s abilities and a bit threatening now that Sara is a permanent fixture, Diggle calls her irreplaceable.
At the dinner, Dinah reveals that she isn’t coming back to live in Starling City for she has someone, Laurel says that everyone should have someone and sees the look that Sara and Oliver share causing her to yell at Sara and leaves. Oliver follows and they argue, she blames Oliver for everything which Oliver calls her out for making it clear that he’s done with Laurel and that he had loved her for half his life and that’s it he’s done.
Oliver discovers that Diggle is alone at the Arrow cave. Felicity has been missing for hours, but calls in to say that Tockham took the bait and she’s waiting for him at the bank. Diggle, Oliver and Sara show up at the bank, but so does Tockham and his men; Diggle goes off to turn off the gas main, Oliver fights the men leaving Sara to protect Felicity. The two women go after Tockham, who pulls a gun on them, Sara knocks Felicity to the ground, but Felicity uses the same virus Tockham used on her to zap his phone, knocking him out.
Sara patches Felicity up. She finally has a battle scar. Oliver talks to Felicity about how she has been felling, they finish taking with each other with Oliver cupping her cheek and tells her she will always be his girl.
Sara is behind the bar mixing drinks getting a job from Thea as a bartender. Oliver receives an omnious text to head home. Laurel shows up, the sisters talk with Laurel telling Sara that she went on that boat with her too and that she has been drowning for years, the two sisters share a sweet moment and reconciliation.
Sin shows up and sees Sara crying. The two talk with Sara calling Sin her little sister. Sara pulls the picture she kept from the island given to her by the dying pilot, revealing that the pilot’s daughter was in fact Sin.
Oliver arrives home only to discover that Thea set him up to talk to their mother, Moira, who brings Oliver in to introduce the man she’s having a meeting with – Slade Wilson. The two men share a look, share a strong and tight handshake, and the episode ends on a brilliant cliffhanger.
