After charming both the judges and viewers alike, Bindi Irwin, the 17-year-old daughter of ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve, has been crowned champion of the latest Dancing With The Stars series.
Since being announced as a contestant on the show, Bindi has gone on to impress week after week and the teenager and her dance partner Derek Hough got a maximum 30 points for their last dance on the show which moved many audience members, and judges, to tears.
Later, as she was handed the glitter-ball trophy, Bindi paid tribute to her father who died in 2006 saying:
“Thank you so much for everything. I can’t believe I’m here. Thank you for changing my life. I’ve tried to just remember his strength, knowing that Dad is kind of still with me.”
She also took to Twitter to give her thanks to those who had supported her.
I am speechless. I can't tell you how much love I have for all of your support throughout this beautiful journey. pic.twitter.com/05lif561bA
