The film isn’t even released until November but Oscar buzz is already building around the Hank Williams biopic I Saw The Light which is being distributed by Sony Classics.
With Tom Hiddleston, perhaps more famed for his hugely entertaining performances as Loki, in the lead role as country singer Williams, fans around the world are curious to see whether the British actor can successfully fill the impressive boots of such a talented, but ultimately tragic star.
Now, months ahead of its release, the first image of Hiddleston as Williams, who died of heart failure at the age of 29, has been released. In it, Hiddleston dons a simple suit and tie and a cowboy hat, and comparisons have already been drawn between the similarities between himself and the crooner.
Elizabeth Olsen plays Williams’ wife Audrey Mae in the movie which details the singers’ phenomenal rise to fame as well as his battles with alcoholism, prescription substance abuse and, having been born with spina bifida, his back problems.
She and Hiddleston are joined by other cast members including Cherry Jones, Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson, and Wren Schmidt.
