New dad Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on the promotion tour for his latest film ‘The Walk’ but that hasn’t stopped him gushing about how he loves his new role as a parent as well as admitting fame comes with both good and bad sides.
Speaking during an appearance on Live With Kelly And Michael, JGL said:
“Being in the public eye is a great thing. It allows me to do what I love to do, which is act in movies, but it’s a choice that I made. I decided to have a career in show business, and so people know my name and know my face.”
He did however go on to add:
“My son, he’s just a baby, you know? He hasn’t made the choice to be in the public eye, and that’s a choice that I would like him to be able to make when he’s older, when he can think about these kinds of things and make that decision for himself. And so, for now, I’m just a protective dad, and I want to protect his privacy.”
JGL and his wife Tasha McCauley welcomed their little boy in mid-August, although they have yet to reveal his name.
The actors’ last big screen role was in 2013’s ‘Don Jon’, but he returns to cinemas next month taking on the role of Philippe Petit in ‘The Walk’. The film tells the story of Petit who, in 1974, decided, with the help of a few friends, to attempt to achieve his dream of walking the immense void between the World Trade Centre towers, which were destroyed as a result of a terrorist attack with the loss of thousands of lives back in 2001.
