Ever since Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was seen appearing to bleed to death having been stabbed by his fellow members of the Night’s Watch in the closing moments of Game Of Thrones‘ season five finale, rumours have been rife as to whether or not the much loved character is indeed truly dead.
After Harington was spotted attending Wimbledon earlier this summer with his ‘Jon Snow’ hair still intact. fans began to increasingly believe that one way or another, he would return to the show. Then a few weeks ago, he was spotted flying into Belfast airport with a fellow cast mate. Current theories as to how might appear next season include being revived by the mystical, magical Melisandre or by embodying the mind of his direwolf, Ghost AKA warging.
Now, fans’ hopes of his return to the show have been raised even further after it was reported Harington was recently spotted filming what appeared to be a major fight scene on the Belfast set of the hit HBO show.
Fan site Watchers on the Wall posted yesterday that:
“…Game of Thrones is filming portions of a massive battle in Saintfield, Northern Ireland, that will likely be a part of episode nine. Preparations and the beginning of filming were seen in that area recently, but it was difficult to glean many details. We’ve learned that the battle will involve many northern armies fighting including the Umbers, the Boltons, wildlings and more! Kit Harington a.k.a Jon Snow was also seen at the location, participating in shooting this week.”
This news completely contradicts what both Harington and show-runner D.B. Weiss have repeatedly said in interviews; that Snow is:
“…deader than dead.”
Fans will however just have to wait until season six airs next year to find out the truth.
