Tragic Hollywood actor Paul Walker was killed due to excessive speed and not a mechanical failure in the vehicle he was travelling in, says the Los Angeles County Sherriff. The car had been modified as it could travel faster than usual. It was discovered however, that two of the Porsche Carrera’s tyres were nine years old, although Porsche engineers determined that the car’s suspension, braking system and steering were up to code.
The car hit a lamp post at 95 miles per hour whilst driven by Roger Rodas, but the speed limit in that zone was only 45 miles per hour. The investigation has lasted around four months. Neither man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and they were wearing seatbelts. Airbags were activated.
The 7th Fast and Furious film is about to go into production, which was the drift racing franchine which made Walker a household name.
