Having formed in 2010, with a fan-base steadily increasing in size over the last eighteen months, with more than 8000 likes on their Facebook page alone and with tour plans already in the works, Altered Sky have kicked off 2014 in a big way with the release of this EP. The four tracks, beginning with ‘Where I Belong’ are a harmonious collaboration of vocals and instruments, ensuring from the first few words that the lyrics are clear, if not a little simple, and are perfect for crowd sing-alongs at live events.
‘Decay’ is without question the highlight of the collection, the catchiest number of the four which is almost certain to have listeners tapping their feet and nodding their heads wherever they choose to give it a listen while ‘Live For It’ is a suitable closer, maintaining the high levels of energy demonstrated throughout the previous tracks.
Despite front-woman Ana currently rocking an image reminiscent of a certain Miss Williams during the ‘Misery Business’ era of Paramore, it cannot be said that the two bands are directly one and the same. Yes, there may be a slight vocal similarity, with Hayley being the much stronger performer, but AS are keen to make themselves known for what THEY can do, and with the fans behind them, plans afoot for a full length album later in the year and this EP giving listeners just a taster of what’s likely to come, it’s a safe bet they’ll get an even bigger chance to do just that soon enough.
