As they continue to build themselves a following on social media, London band Jingo have delivered a new song that might just earn them the critical and audience attention they’ve been hoping for.
The Ghost In The Machine is taken from the bands’ upcoming EP and makes a good, however far from great, introduction as to what listeners might expect from it. The vocals of Katie Buckett are strong though still some way from being exemplary, but as the track slowly builds from its soft, melodic introduction, swelling with the gradual inclusion of more instrumentation, it does get better.
There is an energy to the song which is hard to deny, and, when compared to the bands’ earlier material, there are definite signs of growth and progression. However, with that said, Jingo still have some way to go before they can count themselves among the few artists who can truly win over new fans while keeping the current ones happy, and as a result, proceed to dominate the charts.
