At a time when One Direction style pop ditties are taking over the charts, any attempt to bring indie music back to the major music scene can often be difficult, however this trio from Wolverhampton certainly put in a good effort with this four track collection.
Beginning with ‘Have We Moved On?’, a piece perhaps largely inspired by The Verve, vocally at least, there is no denying the energy it offers up. Yes, certainly after repeat listens it might begin to sound a little over-worked, but no-one should be able to say it isn’t a good little number and it makes for a strong start.
‘Drift Away’ struggles from the outset to reach the high standard of musicianship presented by its predecessor, but with a catchy intro, it will certainly have toes tapping if little else. Following on from that is ‘Promises’ – the closest thing the band offer up to a pop style ballad which would make for a suitable single release sometime in the near future.
In closing with ‘Lazy Bones’, the trio aren’t certainly aren’t pushing any boundaries or producing anything truly unique, but for a group just starting out, they end this first chapter of their careers on a rather strong note, and perhaps, as a result, will have themselves a few new fans coming along for the ride.
