Only Boys Aloud, the choir who made it through to the final of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2012, are mourning the death of one of their former members.
Ryan Howell was eighteen and had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in July of last year.
After falling ill while at home in Cwmbran, South Wales two weeks ago, he passed away in Royal Gwent Hospital.
Speaking to the South Wales Argus, his mother Donna Howell said:
“His lung collapsed, that’s when he passed away – he died in my arms. He liked to make people laugh. That was his goal. He had an infectious smile – he would put a smile on your face. He loved country music. He listened to it for hours. He was a giving sort of lad. He was the best son I could have ever had.”
Only Boys Aloud posted a tribute to Ryan on their Facebook which read:
“We were deeply saddened to hear the news about Ryan. He was a much valued former member of Only Boys Aloud and we shared some great times together. Our thoughts are with Ryan’s friends and family.”
It is thought that the choir dedicated a performance to Ryan on Saturday.
