This episode of Scandal introduced Fitz’s two older children, Jerry and Karen Grant.
Jerry and Karen arrives in DC for the first time in what looks like a long time. Fitz tries to make small talk, but Karen and Jerry are very quiet. Olivia has a prep meeting in place for the Grant family. Mellie talks to Karen where the problem is revealed: She and Jerry wonder why their mother sticks with Fitz after his infidelity.
Later, we discover that Jerry had been tweeting bad things about the US and was planning on wearing a Reston campaign shirt to oppose his father’s own campaign. Afterwards, Olivia and Karen storm out and happens to catch Mellie performing oral sex on Andrew.
Mellie asks Olivia to cancel the interview, but it can’t be cancelled or be pushed, so she goes to Jerry and Karen who are pissed at their mother. Fitz walks in and learns the truth about Mellie and Andrew, which causes him to go and punch him in the face.
Andrew heads out of town in light of what has transpired. Fitz and Mellie have a private talk for Fitz blames Mellie for the end of the marriage for in Fitz’s mind the loss of her sex drive has been a lie because she had no problem screwing Andrew. We expected Mellie to come clean about Fitz’s father raping her, but she didn’t. Another time then, perhaps.
Olivia begs Fitz to fix things, and with Mellie they do. Although we don’t see what is said, they go on camera with Teddy, the youngest of the Grant children.
Meanwhile, OPA are trying to figure out where B613 gets their money from so they can cut them off via their finances. Rowan catches wind of OPA’s digging and calls Olivia to ask her to stop. Later, Rowan reveals that B613 is funded by all departments of the government. Quinn and Charlie kidnaps a terrorist named Dimitri. Adnan goes to OPA for help to get away from Marie, but it doesn’t work. Harrison owes Adnan a favour, so Olivia refuses and calls her a terrorist, but Marie warns her that they need to stay out of each other’s businesses. It turns out that Adnan’s plan was actually a trap, for she steals all the info on Fitz’s future whereabouts so Marie can organise a terrorist attack on the President. Oddly, Jake is aware of this happening but insists they wait to see how this pans out.
Fitz calls a meeting with Jake over Dimitri and requests he be handed over to the government, but Jake flexes his power and says he won’t do it. Cyrus comes in moments later, and tries to attack Jake for killing James.
More privately with Huck, Quinn licks back his face before they make out again, but only for a moment. Their relationship has become very strange.
