We are still confounded by the Jedikiah versus Bathory quandary: who’s merely got a screw loose and who is Satan Incarnate?
Bathory calls a truce between species, but just everyone waffles with suspicion. Bathory (Simon Merrells) aka The Founder, is now leader of Ultra and has won over the other Ultra members. He tries to stop the killing and neutralising of paranormals.
This episode’s break out goes by the name, Monty the Magnificent. Hillary and Stephen, awash in sexual tension, wager a week of servitude (biotch-itude, actually) to the agent who proves Bathory’s nature. Monty gets taken in, where Bathory injects him and frees him, where he explains to Stephen that Monty’s powers remain intact but he’s now been tagged so Ultra can keep track of him.
Jedikiah outs Stephen to his brother, Luca. Stephen arrives and proves his uncle right when he telekinetically disarms Jed. Luca freaks out and takes off. Jed starts to lure John into helping him get through to Stephen which John agrees to do.
Hillary finds Luca and arrives in Stephen’s bedroom where he is, once again, scantily clad. It was quite a twist to see Cara as the Green-Eyed Monster, for she confronts Stephen about the stupidity of hooking up with Hillary. Stephen accuses Cara of being jealous which she denies. About the time Stephen and Hillary are passionately making out and on the verge of having sex, Cara tunes into him and gets a surge of emotions that fuels her jealousy and convinces her to tell John that Stephen is almost a lost cause.
Bathory takes Stephen to the Machine which Roger built for it is supposed to stop time, harness and intensify psionic powers and transport the entire race of paranormals to the promise land, The Refuge. Bathory wants Stephen to use the Machine for a test run which makes him stop time and visits his father, Roger, who looks terrified while telling Stephen there’s something he has to know about the Machine, but we are left dangling on the edge of our seats as Stephen is sucked out of where ever he was.
Across the city, Jedikiah watches in horror as Roger’s brainwaves starts jumping and realises that Stephen has stepped into The Machine. The episode ends with Jedikiah saying “Stupid, stupid boy,”
