For those of a certain age, Tracy Beaker was once a staple in their lives. They’d come home from school, switch the TV on and enjoy seeing what she and those around her got up to. The show, based on Jacqueline Wilson’s best-selling books, ran from 2002 to 2007 and dealt with issues including neglect and fostering.
Well, as of today, those viewers might be feeling a little ‘old’, with the news that Dani Harmer, who played Tracy in the show, is expecting her first child.
In an exclusive interview with Hello!, Harmer, 26, who competed in the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing and has been with her boyfriend Simon Brough for a year, shared her joy saying:
“I’ve always wanted to be a mum. We’re over the moon. I still wake up every morning and go, “I’m pregnant.” It was amazing seeing the scan. I find the whole thing absolutely fascinating. What an amazing, clever thing to be going on inside my body.”
“Starting a family is something we’ve joked about pretty much from day one. But we don’t want to get married just because we’re having a baby. Dani wants the little one to walk up the aisle with us, so we’ll have to wait a fair few years for that.”
The full interview can be found in the new issue of Hello! which is in newsagents now.
